Nearly 150 years ago, Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone… then, Edison, the light bulb. At the turn of the 20th century a network of wires began to weave its way across america. Thousands of miles of electric signals and humming power… MADE POSSIBLE, BY COPPER. That copper, came from Butte America. The Industrial Revolution Had Begun… and Butte, America was fueling it. 90,000 Immigrants from around the world arrived in Butte, with picks and dynamite and raw effort.. to dig… over a mile down in search of the copper ore that the earth promised, to those who dared venture into her depths. Every day thousands of men dropped into 10,000 miles of hand-carved underground passageways, in hopes of returning with copper ore to light up our world. It was a new frontier that drew to it mavericks, pioneers, and trailblazers. This place was an epicenter of innovation. They called it the Richest Hill on Earth. The challenges and danger faced each day by the miners of Butte are a testament to the hard work of a community that sacrificed to to build a brighter future for an entire country. The film also tells the story of how the frontier of Butte is alive and thriving with a new breed of present day maverick innovators.T
he Orphan Girl” short film is one component of “The Spirit of Butte,” a broader campaign strategy designed to create national awareness for Headframe Spirits, tell the story of modern Montana innovator success stories, and spark economic development efforts for Butte, Montana.
he Spirit of Butte, is a multi-pronged, multi-platform, trans-media series of projects orchestrated by CHISEL Industries, designed to bring national awareness to the “un-tapped gems” – the innovative minds of Montana. The multiple ingredients of the strategy include “THE ORPHAN GIRL” short film to be submitted to the film festival circuit and showcased online, a three spot marketing campaign, and the “Legends & Lore” series. In addition, there will be a “Modern Montana Mavericks” series featuring modern day innovators. A mini documentary about Headframe Spirit’s Phase 3 project will be featured as a prototype success story for business incubation and expansion. Also planned is the “Mile High Mixology” series with special guest stars that will be distributed on Youtube with various strategic partners. Lastly, there will be content featuring unique components of Butte, including the Montana Folk Fest and local innovator success stories.
